Mike Sainristil and Michigan were able to absorb the loss of Blake Corum a season ago. After injuring his knee against Illinois, Corum tried to play in The Game but was unable to leave an impact against Ohio State.
The good news is Donovan Edwards delivered the performance of a lifetime, but Sainristil knows it bothered Corum not to be available. Fortunately, the star running back heads into Saturday’s rivalry healthy and looking to leave an impact.
“I think it definitely bothered him a bunch, really. Just knowing the team guy that Blake is,” said Sainristile at his weekly press conference. “It’s definitely not a good feeling when you can’t participate and you can’t help your team or just support them and give the team your all.”
As for Saturday, Sainristil knows Corum is excited to get on the field in the Big House.
“Him having the opportunity to be back and play in The Game this year, I know he’s excited. I know he can’t wait to play,” Sainristil said.
As for Saturday’s matchup, Corum has another chance to elevate his UM legacy against a tough Ohio State defense. The Buckeyes are currently giving up just 108.5 yards per game with an average of 3.3 yards per carry, but Ohio State has not faced an attack like Michigan’s this season. Another dynamic performance, particularly in The Game, would solidify Corum’s spot as a Wolverine legend.
