Mike Woodson mentioned the improv skills from Jalen Hood-Schifino late during the 91-89 loss to Iowa. The Indiana G tried to make a play after losing Trayce Jackson-Davis down low.
Hood-Schifino had 21 points, 3 rebounds, and 9 assists in Thursday’s loss. Woodson wondered if maybe Hood-Schifino was trying to get to the free-throw line. The Indiana G is hitting 72% of his shots from the charity stripe this season.
“He had a good game, he can make free throws, maybe he was trying to do that,” said Woodson.
Coach said Jalen Hood-Schifino improvised a little bit after losing Trayce down low on that last play.

Jackson-Davis was a good option to pass to during the game. Jackson-Davis dropped in 30 points and had 9 rebounds as well as 3 assists. It looks like Woodson approved of Hood-Schifino’s decision after Jackson-Davis was not available to make a play.
Hood-Schifino is averaging 10.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.3 assists during his first season in Bloomington. It makes sense that Woodson has trust in the young Hoosier.
