Mike Woodson went to the podium after Thursday’s loss to Iowa. Indiana lost a heartbreaker to Iowa 91-89.
One of the bright spots for Indiana was once again Trayce Jackson-Davis. Jackson-Davis had 30 points and was 1 rebound shy of a double-double with 9. Woodson stated that Jackson-Davis’ game spoke for itself.
“His game spoke for itself,” Mike Woodson said per Inside The Hall’s Amanda Foster. “The guy tried to do everything to help us win. For a guy who hadn’t been playing and hadn’t been able to practice, [to] come out and get you 30 and nine, he was pretty damn good for us.”
Woodson further commented on the recent injuries to Xavier Johnson and Race Thompson. Johnson has not played since the Kansas game and Thompson left the Iowa game with an apparent knee injury. Woodson encouraged his team to step up.
“There’s nothing you can do about it, it’s a part of the game,” Woodson said. “All I can do is wish Race and X a speedy recovery and that they get back. But until they get back, other guys have gotta step up and play.”
Indiana’s focus should be on Northwestern after the loss. The Hoosiers take on the Wildcats Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on FS1.
