Mike Woodson is not afraid to relish key wins and offer a stream of praise to his players.
After the No. 13 Indiana Hoosiers defeated Bethune-Cookman 101-49 on Thursday night, Woodson praised his players’ competitiveness in the game, especially on the second unit.
“This team is competitive, man,” said Woodson. “I’m just telling you, if you’d been able to sit in practice and watch the journey starting four months ago, they’re competitive.”
The Hoosiers had a phenomenal night on the floor with 27 assists, 21-of-22 made free throws and a whopping 10 three-pointers.
Not to mention, Woodson also spoke on the role of rotations on the Hoosiers squad and how it added to the victory.
“I don’t ever want to hear a player say, ‘I need this many minutes.’,” said Woodson. “You’re on the wrong team. If I play you, give me quality minutes.”
Woodson noted and emphasized the need for more quality playing time, rather than his players adopting the need for minutes.
Whatever Woodson is doing is working.
The Hoosiers are 2-0 to begin the season and the next game will be against Xavier on Friday, Nov. 18 at 6:00 p.m. ET on FS1.
