Miller Moss trolls LSU after leading Trojans to upset victory

Miller Moss was the architect of LSU’s latest season-opening defeat on Sunday night in Sin City.

The redshirt junior and first-year starting quarterback for USC delivered 2 drives in the fourth quarter that gave USC leads, with the final possession being an 8-play, 75-yard march that ended with a game-winning touchdown and only 8 seconds left on the clock.

Following an interception from LSU’s Garrett Nussmeier on a desperation play, USC kneeled on the ball, ran out the final 4 seconds, and left the field with a massive victory to open Lincoln Riley’s third season in charge. And Moss? He savored the moment.

On Sunday, LSU looked improved under new defensive coordinator Blake Baker, but the Tigers were still a step behind Moss throughout much of the game.

Moss finished with 378 yards and 1 touchdown through the air while completing 27 of his 36 passes. In the fourth quarter, he was 11-for-14 for 146 yards through the air.

For LSU, the defeat marked a fifth consecutive loss in season-openers. The Tigers played neutral site games against Florida State in 2022 and 2023 and lost both. They played at UCLA to open the 2021 season and lost. They lost to Mississippi State at home to open the 2020 season.

The last time the Tigers won their debut game was in 2019 — the year Joe Burrow led LSU to a national title.

That was also the last time LSU opened a season against a team from outside the Power 4/5 conferences. Not that LSU will be able to make excuses. The Tigers scheduled the games. But the losses have come by 10, 11, 1, 21, and now 7 points.
