Minnesota adds Florida DT to 2021 recruiting class

Luther McCoy is landing in Minnesota, the Florida defensive lineman choosing the Golden Gophers on Wednesday morning.
A three-star recruit out of Creekside (FL), McCoy chose the Big Ten program over finalists that included Baylor, Duke and Georgia Tech. At 6-foot-4 and 290 lbs., McCoy represents another building block for Minnesota, who are worst in the Big Ten this year in scoring defense, allowing 34.8 point per game.
In a letter written for his hometown newspaper, McCoy outlined why he felt the Big Ten school was the best fit for him. It is worth the read and interesting take on his football career to this point:
A big part of it for me is the coaches. Just talking to most of them and I feel more comfortable with them as a person, not just as a player. I’d like to thank coach Fleck and coach Chad Wilt for showing me the culture at Minnesota and how I fit there.
At Minnesota, he becomes the third defensive tackle commit of this season as the program looks to rebuild along the trenches. He joins fellow three-star recruits Jacob Schuster and Deven Eastern as defensive tackle commits for the class of 2021.
Minnesota’s 2021 class currently ranks 25th nationally and sits 8th in the B1G.
