Richard Pitino has gone international to get his latest commitment for the 2019 recruiting class.
On Tuesday, Evan Daniels of 247Sports reported that Isaiah Ihnen has committed to Minnesota. The four-star power forward becomes the third player to commit in 2019 class for the Golden Gophers.
Ihnen, a 6-foot-9 forward out of Germany is ranked as a top 100 player in the 2019 recruiting cycle and is listed as one of the 20 best power forwards. He’s also ranked as the top college prospect out of Germany.
“I just feel like with the coaching staff I’ll be in a great situation,” Ihnen told 247Sports. “I think I’ll have a big opportunity to play right away and even start. They will just let me play my game.”
“The good thing is they have Amir Coffey and he’s 6-7 and played point guard a lot during the season. That just shows me that they aren’t afraid to let players play their game.”
With Ihnen’s commitment, Minnesota now has the fifth-ranked recruiting class in the B1G and comes in at No. 36 nationally. He’s currently the only four-star player to commit to the Gophers.
