Minnesota defensive line coach Marcus West is leaving the program for an opportunity at Charlotte.
On Tuesday, West issued a statement through Twitter regarding his time at Minnesota and his future at Charlotte. He’ll join Will Healy’s staff as the co-defensive coordinator.
West was with the Gophers for one season.
Now-former #Gophers D-line coach Marcus West says goodbye in tweet Tuesday: "(P.J. Fleck) took a FCS coach (at Austin Peay) and made me into a BIG10 success, and for that I'm forever grateful." He'll be co-D coordinator at Charlotte, rejoining Will Healy from two previous tops.

Prior to joining P.J. Fleck’s staff at Minnesota, West spent two seasons at Austin Peay. The defensive line coach thanked Fleck for turning an “FCS coach” into a “B1G success.”
West may not be the only Gopher assistant to be moving on from the program. On Monday, it was reported by Andy Greder that West Virginia reached out to offensive coordinator Kirk Ciarrocca to gauge his interest in a position with the Mountaineers.
West and Healy were on the same staff at Austin Peay in 2016 and 2017.
