Just days before Minnesota’s regular season finale against rival Wisconsin, a defensive lineman has entered his name into the transfer portal. Andy Greder of the Pioneer Press reported the news Monday.
Rashad Cheney, a member of Minnesota’s 2019 recruiting class, has entered his name into the NCAA portal. He is the second Gopher to hit the portal since Sunday, joining defensive end MJ Anderson.
Minnesota has witnessed 4 players hit the portal during the 2021 season.

Cheney appeared in 6 games for the Golden Gophers this fall and was credited with 3 tackles. Head coach PJ Fleck said that the defensive tackle missed some time throughout the season because of personal reasons.
Last season, Cheney totaled 6 tackles in 4 appearances.
Minnesota currently sits at 7-4 on the season with an outside shot to win the B1G West. On Saturday, the Golden Gophers will host Wisconsin for the battle for Paul Bunyan’s Axe.
Cheney is a former 4-star prospect.
