Minnesota’s football stadium will officially be known as another name.

Tuesday, the school announced that the University of Minnesota Board of Regents approved the renaming of the football stadium to Huntington Bank Stadium. It had previously been named TCF Bank Stadium.

The change will take effect before the Golden Gophers host Ohio State on Thursday, Sept. 2 for the first home game of the 2021 season. Minnesota is preparing for 100% capacity for fall athletics.

TCF Bank Stadium has been the name of the facility since it was constructed in 2009. The change comes as Huntington Bank officially acquired the TCF Financial Corporation.

Athletic director Mark Coyle was in charge of leading the presentation regarding the name change.
