Minnesota freshman defensive end announces he is in NCAA transfer portal

Abi N-Okonji is a redshirt freshman defensive end at Minnesota. His time as a Golden Gopher, albeit a short one, has appeared to have come to an end.
On Friday morning, he announced that he is in the NCAA transfer portal:

There are a number of reasons why players choose to transfer. Sometimes, it’s playing time. Sometimes, it’s not getting along with coaches. Sometimes, it’s because of disciplinary issues. Sometimes, it’s because a family member is thousands of miles away at home and gets sick.
With N-Okonji, we don’t know the reasoning. But, we do know that he hasn’t played yet at Minnesota. N-Okonji was a 3-star prospect coming out of high school and was a member of the Golden Gophers’ 2018 recruiting class.
