This is not the news Minnesota was hoping for.
Saturday’s game ended in disappointing fashion as the Golden Gophers fell to Illinois by a final score of 55-31. That loss was discouraging enough, but head coach PJ Fleck confirmed a season-ending injury after the game.
Fleck confirmed that running back Shannon Brooks will indeed miss the rest of the season due to a knee injury. Brooks joins starting running back Rodney Smith who is also out for the season due to injury.
Writer Andy Greder shared Fleck’s comments:
#Gophers senior running back Shannon Brooks (knee) is done for the season, head coach PJ Fleck confirmed Saturday. Falling under new NCAA redshirt rule, Brooks will have another year of eligibility in 2019.
