The Oklahoma native is considered to be the nation’s No. 33 interior offensive lineman and the No. 15 player in his state, according to the 247Sports Composite.
McConnell previously expressed the advantages Minnesota offers ahead of his other suitors:
“I think my favorite part of the Minnesota visit was getting able to build relationships face-to-face with the coaches there, as my relationship with them compared to some of the other schools on me is definitely up there. I enjoy the Minnesota coaches a lot,” McConnell said. “…As far as how I’m feeling about Minnesota now, I love it. I think the visit has definitely shaken my thoughts up.”
Minnesota is 8-4 overall this season and will cap off the 2021 campaign on Dec. 28 with a matchup vs. West Virginia in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl.
