Minnesota could be playing better in 2019. However, its record couldn’t be any better than it is right now.
The Golden Gophers have played four games and are 4-0. Granted, each of those games have been decided by a TD or less, but nonetheless, Minnesota is perfect going into its matchup against Illinois.

Illinois has been on a bit of a downward spiral, and on Saturday, that appears to be continuing. At halftime, Minnesota leads Illinois 16-10.
Prior to an Illinois field goal to make it a one score game, though, Minnesota RB Shannon Brooks broke free for a 21-yard TD run to give the Golden Gophers a 16-7 lead at the time:
