Minnesota reveals special uniforms for season opener vs. Ohio State

Minnesota is breaking in a new look for its colossal season-opening showdown against Ohio State.
Saturday, the Golden Gophers revealed that they’ll be wearing new uniforms for the Week 1 contest against the Buckeyes on Thursday, Sept. 2. It’s a combination that is getting plenty of traction on social media.
Players responded well to the new uniforms. Minnesota will be wearing a black jersey with black pants to go with a maroon helmet. When the unveiling happened, the locker room exploded with excitement.

That adds a little extra hype to that Week 1 game, not that Minnesota needs it with Ohio State coming to town.
Minnesota has experimented with several different jersey and helmet options recently. This is another uniform combination to add to the mix. We’ll see how these new threads look under the lights in a few weeks.
