Minnesota’s Duke McGhee ejected, Austin Carr taken to locker room after helmet-to-helmet hit

Minnesota has had a lot of trouble with targeting this year. That problem surfaced again on Saturday.
In the third quarter, Duke McGhee tried to make a hit to jar free a pass from Clayton Thorson to Austin Carr. But the defensive back made helmet-to-helmet contact with the B1G’s leading wide receiver, leaving Carr on the field for an extended period of time.
McGhee was ejected.
This was the seventh time Minnesota has been flagged for targeting this season and was McGhee’s second offense. Because the hit occurred in the second half, the junior will be ineligible for the first half of next week’s game against Wisconsin.
McGhee had 37 tackles and one interception coming into Saturday’s game.
Carr eventually left on his own power and was headed to the locker room. He leads the B1G in receptions (75), yardage (1,102) and TDs (12) prior to the matchup with Minnesota.
