Miyan Williams’ day in Happy Valley could be over.

The Ohio State running back was helped off the field during the closing seconds of the 1st quarter against Penn State with an apparent hand/finger injury. His status is questionable for the remainder of the afternoon.

On a 2nd-and-6 run, Williams was pushed out of bounds near the Penn State sideline. After several minutes, the 5-foot-9 runner was assisted to the sidelines by Ohio State’s medical staff. Williams was seen leaving the field for further evaluation.

Williams scored on a 4-yard run with just under 3 minutes remaining in the 1st quarter to make it 10-0. Through the first 15 minutes, he tallied just 2 carries for 9 yards.

Should Williams’ afternoon be over, the Buckeyes will turn to the combination of TreVeyon Henderson and QB C.J. Stroud to carry the load. Henderson has been the Buckeyes’ top running back this season, rushing for 474 yards and 4 touchdowns in 6 games.

Ohio State entered Saturday down a key offensive player with wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba being ruled out with a hamstring injury.
