Michigan State drops in College Football Playoff poll

The drop was inevitable.
The question was, how steep would it be?
After suffering their first loss of the season on Saturday to Nebraska — in controversial fashion — the Spartans fell outside of the top 10 in the College Football Playoff poll. The selection committee dropped MSU from No. 7 to No. 13.
Despite the loss, Michigan State still has a chance to win the B1G East and earn a spot in the top four.
MSU was one of six B1G teams — the most of any conference — to make the top 25.
After the conference put four teams in the top 25 last week, MSU was the only team that didn’t improve its standing. Ohio State came in at No. 3, Iowa moved up to No. 5 while Michigan climbed to No. 14. Northwestern came in at No. 19 and Wisconsin also earned its first top-25 ranking.
Michigan State will have a chance to get back on track Saturday against Maryland before its showdown against Ohio State on Nov. 21.
