Indiana gave No. 10 Michigan State all they could handle during the first half of Saturday’s game in Bloomington, and the Hoosiers took a 9-7 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Spartans’ regularly explosive offense had been held in check by the Hoosiers defense all day, and as a result MSU head coach Mel Tucker dipped into the playbook for some trickery. A double reverse pass from Tyler Hunt to quarterback Payton Thorne set up the first offensive touchdown of the day for either team.

A fake counter handoff by Thorne froze the Hoosiers linebackers just enough for Hunt to break free of coverage, leaving an easy toss over the defense to an undefended Hunt in the Hoosiers end zone.

The score put the Spartans up 14-9, where the score still stood entering the 4th quarter.
