Michigan State rises in Coaches Poll

The Spartans didn’t have to beat a top-10 team to climb in the latest Coaches Poll.
After beating Air Force 35-21, Michigan State moved up to No. 3 in the country, behind No. 2 TCU and No. 1 Ohio State. The Spartans climbed one spot, and are the only team in the top five to climb in each week of the regular season.
It’s the highest ranking for the Spartans since their Rose Bowl victory against Stanford at the end of the 2013-14 campaign.
MSU was led by a career day from Aaron Burbridge. The Spartan receiver had four career touchdowns entering Saturday, but he found the end zone three times. The four TD passes from senior quarterback Connor Cook were also a career high.
In addition to MSU and OSU both in the top three, the Big Ten claimed two other spots in the poll. Northwestern and Wisconsin each rose to No. 19 and No. 21 respectively after picking up weekend victories.
The Spartans host Central Michigan next week in East Lansing.
