The accolades continue to pour in for Michigan State defensive end Kenny Willekes.

After a monster performance in the season opener against Tulsa, Willekes was named the Walter Camp Defensive Player of the Week and the B1G Defensive Player of the Week. On Tuesday, he received another honor.

Willekes was named the B1G Rose Bowl Player of the Week for his efforts in the 28-7 victory over Tulsa. He finished the game with 7 tackles, 2.5 for loss, 1.5 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries and a touchdown. Not too shabby for the reigning B1G Defensive Lineman of the Year.

Willekes was a leader on a defense that stymied Tulsa’s rushing attack, hitting them behind the line for -73 rushing yards in the game.

Now, Michigan State prepares for an in-state rivalry matchup, taking on MAC foe Western Michigan.
