While Alabama continues to be the No. 1 ranked team in the nation, and as expected, is the highest rated in ESPN’s Allstate Playoff Predictor model, the B1G has taken a significant role in the listing.
When Wisconsin rolled over Michigan Saturday night, it not only impacted their postseason hopes, but also a number of teams in the conference.
The Badgers’ 49-11 win over the Wolverines increased their chances of playing in their first College Football Playoff from 40.6% to 54.9%, and their chances of winning the CFP from 8.6% to 17.5%.
Fellow B1G teams Ohio State and Indiana, scheduled to meet this Saturday, were also impacted.
The Buckeyes had their game with Maryland cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns, had their chances drop from 73.6% to 61.4%, and their chance of winning dropped from 27.2% to 21.2%.
For the Hoosiers, in spite of a dominant win over Michigan State, they also had their chances drop of making the playoff, from 3.3% to 1.6% and their chance to win from 0.2% to 0.1%.
Here is the list, with teams over a 1% chance of making the playoff.
