It seemed like the Illinois vs. Penn State game would never end. But the reactions were amazing once it did.

Illinois had cameras on the sidelines to capture the moment the Illini beat the No. 7-ranked Nittany Lions in 9OT. It was a marathon, and it finally ended with Illinois’ first road win over an AP Top-10 team since 2007.

That’s when the celebrations began.

Illinois’ victory was due in large part to the rushing attack. Chase Brown ran for 223 yards and a touchdown on 33 carries, while Josh McCray tallied 142 yards on 24 attempts. The defense showed up, too, holding Penn State to just 227 total yards — a stark contrast from the average 429.1 yards allowed coming in.

Penn State is likely to lose its top-10 ranking and CFP consideration with the loss, leading to plenty of angry reactions on social media after the game. The Nittany Lions’ schedule continues next week against Ohio State on the road.
