NBA’s Doc Rivers gives major shoutout to Indiana head coach Mike Woodson

Now that the college basketball season has officially come to an end, Philadelphia 76ers head coach Doc Rivers wanted to be sure started his meeting with reporters off on the right foot. He gave a shoutout to first-year Indiana head coach and longtime NBA coach Mike Woodson.
Before opening up to reporters on Tuesday, Rivers started by commending Woodson and the job he did at Indiana. It was his first season coaching at the college level.
“We’re gonna open up about Mike Woodson and the phenomenal job he did at Indiana,” Rivers said, per Scott Agness of Fieldhouse Files.
Philadelphia is in Indianapolis on Tuesday for 7 p.m. ET showdown against the Pacers. Woodson was on Rivers’ staff with the Los Angeles Clippers from 2014-18
Woodson was hired to be the head coach at Indiana following the 2020-21 season after spending 25 years in the NBA. In his first year at the college level, Woodson led the Hoosiers to a 21-14 record and the team’s first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2016.
The Hoosiers defeated Wyoming in the First Four before falling to St. Mary’s in the Round of 64.
Indiana also notched impressive regular season wins over Ohio State and Notre Dame and also ended a 9-game losing streak to in-state rival Purdue. The Hoosiers also reached the semifinal round of the B1G Tournament, defeating Michigan and top-seeded Illinois.
