The NCAA has made the decision to extend the recruiting dead period once again.

On Thursday, the association announced that it will extend the recruiting dead period, this time through Aug. 31. That will run through Week 0 of the college football season, assuming that the 2020 campaign kicks off as planned on Aug. 29.

“The Division I Council has extended the recruiting dead period in all sports through August 31,” the NCAA said in a statement. “The full Council and the Council Coordination Committee will continue to review the dead periods on a regular basis.”

Recruiting has taken a back seat as the country continues to battle a public health concern with the COVID-19 pandemic. All official and unofficial visits were halted in mid-March when all sports were placed on hold.

Coaches and staff have been permitted to speak with recruits via phone call, text message and social media during this time. It’s still unclear whether or not this will result in a delay to the Early Signing Period or National Signing Day.
