Anyone worried about a potential departure for Nebraska AD Bill Moos might be able to breathe a little bit better for now.
On Thursday, Jon Wilner with the Mercury News included Moos’ name in a report discussing the ongoing search for a new Pac-12 commissioner. The Pac-12 is trying to fill the void after the departure of Larry Scott.
According to Wilner, Alabama AD Greg Byrne, Ohio State AD Gene Smith, and Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby are among names that appear to be out of the running to fill the Pac-12’s vacancy. However, Moos was reportedly among four names receiving initial consideration.
Friday morning, Moos addressed the report. According to Sam McKewon with the Omaha World-Herald, Moos indicated his name being included was mere “media speculation.”
To this point, Moos says he has not been contacted:
Nebraska AD Bill Moos says he's "flattered" to be a part of Mercury News report of candidates for the Pac-12 Commissioner job, but it's "merely media speculation."
"Have not been contacted," Moos says.

It has been a season of change inside the B1G. Ex-Northwestern AD Jim Phillips has left to become the ACC Commissioner and Wisconsin AD Barry Alvarez is reportedly preparing for his retirement. It will be interesting to see if anything becomes of rumors surrounding Moos as we head into April.
