Portnoy points out that this is a homecoming for Ellsworth. Before playing college football at Northern Iowa, Ellsworth played high school football in Nebraska at Grand Island Northwest. Ellsworth holds Nebraska state records for career passing yards, career completions, career touchdowns, single-game completions, single-game attempts and season completions. He was first-team all-state as a senior.
Ellsworth was on Kansas State’s staff for the 2020 and 2021 seasons before joining Beamer’s South Carolina staff for the 2022 season.
