Nebraska has received a verbal commitment from Omaha (Neb.) North athlete Donovan Jones.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound corner turned in a strong showing at a camp put on by the Huskers last week and left with an offer. Days later, he pulled the trigger and revealed he plans to stay in-state for college.
The camp circuit this summer has been good to Jones, who has earned himself offers from South Dakota State, Lindenwood, Wyoming, and then Nebraska. Coach Matt Rhule liked what they saw and now NU has its third in-state pledge for the 2024 cycle.

Jones doesn’t yet have a ranking in the industry-generated 247 Composite, but he’s a 3-star recruit in the eyes of the 247Sports evaluators. They have him ranked as the No. 11 prospect in the state for the cycle and the No. 124 athlete in the class.
As a junior last fall, Jones was credited with 46 tackles, 7 passes defended, 2.5 tackles for loss, and 2 interceptions in 10 games. He also had a rushing touchdown on offense. Jones also competes in basketball and track for Omaha North.
The Huskers are up to 15 verbal commitments now for the 2024 class. You can see Jones’ highlight tape below, via Hudl:
Derek Peterson does a bit of everything, not unlike Taysom Hill. He has covered Oklahoma, Nebraska, the Pac-12, and now delivers CFB-wide content.
