Sam Foltz, as all Nebraska fans know, was a Cornhuskers punter.
Foltz died in a tragic car accident in 2016. Since his accident, Nebraska has given out a Sam Foltz Memorial Scholarship each year.
This is the third year of the scholarship, and the winner was Peyton Newell:
Thank you to the Foltz family for the award/scholarship. Foltzy was truly one of the most remarkable individuals I have met in my life ✊🏻 #SF27 pic.twitter.com/2dRQJQX3Ir

Newell is a current defensive tackle for the Cornhuskers. He is a senior, who committed to Nebraska back in 2013.
Newell has recorded two tackles during his time in Lincoln. As Newell mentioned in his tweet, he thought “Foltzy” was one of the most remarkable individuals he ever met. Many Cornhuskers have said great, similar things about the team’s former punter.
In 2017, senior Chris Weber received the scholarship and in 2016, Drew Brown received the first scholarship.
The scholarship is awarded annually to a player who represents Foltz’s characteristics of leadership and excellence on and off the football field.
