For Illinois, the Huskers are the 3rd conference opponent of the season. The Illini open the season against Toledo and Kansas in the first 2 weeks before facing Penn State in Week 3. The Nebraska meeting is part of a 4-game B1G stretch before the bye in Week 9 that begins in Week 5 with Purdue.
In Matt Rhule’s first season, Nebraska will notably play 3 non-Saturday games. The Huskers kick off the Rhule era on a Thursday against Minnesota. The regular-season finale against Iowa is also scheduled for Friday. The Huskers have a bye in Week 7 after the trip to Illinois.
