Nebraska beats out 9 other programs for commitment from California DE in 2021 class

Instead of playing against Wisconsin on Saturday, Nebraska found itself sitting at home without anywhere to go as the Badgers deal with a spike in COVID cases.
That didn’t stop coach Scott Frost, however. He’s continued to hit the recruiting trail and it paid off big time on Saturday. 247Sports reported Saturday that Jailen Weaver, a Class of 2021 defensive end out of Antioch High School in California.
The Huskers got the commitment from Weaver while competing against other Power 5 programs such as Indiana, Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Washington State, Texas A&M and Tennessee. The 6-foot-8, 220-pounder was ranked by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 48 weak-side defensive end.
Weaver is the 20th recruit signed by Frost and company to the Class of 2021. Nebraska ranks No. 20 in the country, according to 247Sports. The site also reports that Husker defensive line coach Tony Tuioti was the coach leading the recruiting charge.
Frost has his work cut out for him if he wants to meet Nebraska fans’ sky-high expectations. If there’s going to be significant success for the Huskers under Frost, it’s going to have to happen on the recruiting trail.
