Nebraska added a major prospect to its 2024 recruiting class on Wednesday afternoon.

The Huskers picked up a commitment from 4-star tight end and top-100 prospect Carter Nelson. He chose Nebraska over offers such as Notre Dame, Georgia and Penn State, amongst others.

Here’s video of his announcement:

Nelson is a Nebraska native. He attends Ainsworth High School in Ainsworth, Nebraska. He’s listed at 6-foot-4, 205 pounds.

He’s the No. 97 overall player and the No. 7 tight end in the country for the class of 2024, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 1 player from the state of Nebraska.

Nelson took several official visits during the month of June, including one to Lincoln this past weekend. He also visited Penn State, Notre Dame and Georgia this month.

Nebraska has now secured commitments from the top 4 in-state prospects, per 247Sports Composite rankings. Nelson is the top-ranked overall prospect in Nebraska’s class so far.
