The Nebraska Cornhuskers have earned a critical 2027 commitment, gaining the pledge of 3-star linebacker Eli Harris.
The Loganville (Ga.) Grayson High School product chose the Cornhuskers over offers from Texas A&M and Pitt. Harris is Nebraska’s first linebacker commit of the 2027 cycle and the Huskers’ third addition from powerhouse Grayson.
Harris recorded 67 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, three sacks, one interception, five passes deflected and 23 quarterback hurries as a junior for the Rams. A 3-star prospect according to 247 Sports Composite, the 6-foot-1 Harris is a versatile defender with the skillset to defend the run in the box, rush the passer, drop into coverage who could play a few different positions in Rob Aurich’s defense.
Nebraska already boasts 14 commitments in the 2027 class, including 4-star prospects in QB Trae Taylor, athlete Tory Pittman III, OL Jordan Agbanoma, S Corey Hadley Jr., CB Bryce Williams and OT Timi Aliu.
The Cornhuskers struggled to a 7-6 overall record and a 4-5 mark in Big Ten play. Nebraska lost four of its final five games, including a 44-22 setback to Utah in the Las Vegas Bowl. Nebraska kicks off the 2026 season with three straight home games, including the opener Sept. 5 vs. Ohio (Noon ET, FS1). The Huskers begin conference play Sept. 26 at Michigan State.
