Now that the B1G has changed its rules on the minimum amount of games required to qualify for the conference title game, Ohio State (5-0) cleared a huge hurdle in its quest to reach the College Football Playoff.
The previous requirement was six games played. Ohio State has had three games cancelled this season due to COVID-19: vs. Maryland, Illinois, and this weekend’s matchup vs. Michigan.
Nebraska coach Scott Frost gave his take on the unique situation on Thursday. Frost understands why the B1G needed to compromise.
Frost, asked about the league’s decision to erase the six-game minimum for Ohio State, says it has nothing to do with Nebraska but that “it’s probably what’s best for the conference.”

Ohio State routed Nebraska 52-17 in Week 1.
Ohio State is ranked above a pair of one-loss SEC teams that have more wins: No. 5 Texas A&M (7-1) and No. 6 Florida (8-1).
If the rankings remain the same, Ohio State would face undefeated No. 1 Alabama (9-0) in the semifinals.
While there’s bound to be endless debate about Ohio State’s merit on resume, their talent is undeniable and it makes complete sense why the B1G wants one of its biggest brands on the national stage.
