Former Big 12 rivals Nebraska and Colorado will be meeting on the hardwood this upcoming season for a charity game. Sam McKewon of the Omaha World-Herald reported the news on Monday morning. The Huskers later released a statement on the game.
The charity game will be hosted an Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln. The date of the contest is Sunday, Oct. 31 with a tip-off time set for 12 p.m. CT. Single-game tickets will be on sale for the event.
“Over the past year, we have sought out ways for our program to make a positive impact in the community, and this charity game against Colorado allows us to directly help those in Lincoln who have been directly affected by COVID-19,” Nebraska head coach Fred Hoiberg said. “We appreciate Coach Boyle and his team for coming to Lincoln. I think it will be a matchup our fans will be excited to see and allows both team a chance to gain valuable experience prior to the start of the regular season.”
The meeting will be the first time Nebraska and Colorado have played a basketball contest since the 2010-11 season, the Huskers’ last year in the Big 12.
Proceeds from the charity game will be donated to three organizations: the TeamMates mentoring program; the YWCA of Lincoln for its Employ402 program and the Nebraska Greats Foundation.
