Nebraska isn’t in the market for a new head coach, but athletic director Bill Moos praised UCF coach Scott Frost when asked about the former Husker quarterback on Tuesday.
Moos said when speaking with KOZN radio in Omaha, Frost “has got the full package” as a coach and expects Frost to lead a Power 5 program “probably sooner than later.” Frost would likely be considered a favorite for the Nebraska job, if current coach Mike Riley was fired after the season.
Moos has said in the past that he will wait until the end of the season to make a decision on Riley, who’s in his third year as the Huskers coach. Riley is 19-15 at Nebraska and his team is currently 4-4 this season, as they seek a bowl bid.
Frost is reportedly interested in the Nebraska job if it became available.
Frost is in his second season at UCF, who’s ranked No. 15 in the latest AP Top 25 Poll, after serving as an assistant at Oregon from 2009-15.
“Well, Scott, of course, has a great resume. … He has learned from some of the great football minds in the business, throughout the years both at the college level and the professional ranks,” said Moos when asked if he’s followed Frost’s success this season.
Frost is expected to be one of the top coaching candidates on the market this offseason with numerous high-profile schools vying for his services.
