Nebraska and Northwestern are opening the B1G football season this coming Saturday at 12:30 pm ET on FOX.
Nebraska defensive coordinator Erik Chinander is prepared for anything the Wildcats will throw at his defensive squad.
“We know they’re gonna have some surprises for us, different personnel groupings,” said Chinander. “Might be 2 quarterbacks playing, might be a surprise starter. We don’t know but we’re ready for all of it.”
The Wildcats and Cornhuskers are looking to improve on the conference records from last year. Both teams finished with identical 3-9 overall records and 1-8 conference records.
Nebraska’s defense was a top 50 defense in 2021 which kept the Huskers in a lot of games last year and they are expected to be the anchor for these year’s team as their offense tries to get it together with a new quarterback under center.
Northwestern’s offense last year was one of the worst in the country. The Wildcats finished 125th in the country averaging just over 16.6 points per game. The question for this week’s game is which team will have the advantage?
Will it be the Cornhuskers with its strong defense or will it be the Wildcats with an improved offense? We’ll see Saturday whose team will get off to a good start in 2022.
