Nebraska’s defense delivered a clutch goal line stand to keep Illinois off the scoreboard on Friday night.
Facing 4th and goal inside the 1, Illinois chose to hand it off to running back Reggie Love III. Nebraska’s defense stood tall, however, and kept love out of the end zone.

The play was reviewed to see if Love crossed the goal line but the call on the field was upheld.
It’s a huge stop for the Huskers, who were underdogs coming into this game against the Illini. Nebraska is hoping to improve to 3-3 on the season with a win over Illinois on Friday night.
The Huskers were able to cash in on the big defensive stop. Nebraska’s offense responded with an 11-play, 86 yard field goal drive to take a 3-0 lead late in the first quarter.
Nebraska is 13-6-1 all-time against the Illini. However, Illinois has won 3 straight meetings in this series. Nebraska’s last win over Illinois came back in 2019.
