Nebraska has been in control for most of the game against Rutgers, as the Cornhuskers are leading 14-0 in the fourth quarter. The Scarlet Knights looked like they were getting their chance to get back in the game after Jamier Wright-Collins blocked a punt. Shaquan Loyal was able to recover the ball and give Rutgers the ball at the Nebraska 2.

However, the Cornhuskers defense came huge, stopping Rutgers on a 4th down to keep the 2-touchdown lead.

The Cornhuskers defense has been nicknamed “The Blackshirts” throughout the years, and the defense lived up to it on that play. Rutgers entered this game undefeated, while the Cornhuskers’ lone loss coming to Illinois.

This is a big game for Nebraska as the next 2 games on the schedule will go a long way in determining how the rest of their season goes. Next weekend, the Cornhuskers are taking on an Indiana team that remained undefeated after beating Northwestern, 41-24.

It only gets tougher after the following game, as the Cornhuskers will travel to Columbus to take on No. 3 Ohio State, who won 35-7 over Iowa.
