Fred Hoiberg’s 2022 recruiting class just got a big boost.

Jamarques Lawrence, a 3-star shooting guard out of New Jersey, announced he committed to Nebraska Friday afternoon. It’s the Cornhuskers’ 4th commitment from the Class of 2022 — and a nice boost, as well.

Lawrence is known as a sharpshooter and had plenty of interest on the recruiting trail. He held offers from Wake Forest, Cal, DePaul and Virginia Tech, among others, and is ranked as the No. 8 prospect in New Jersey by 247Sports.

His commitment brings Nebraska’s 2022 recruiting class to No. 7 in the B1G, up a spot from No. 8. So far, Hoiberg has 3 3-star commitments among his class, according to 247Sports. Nebraska also has one scholarship spot left to offer, according to VerbalCommits.

The Cornhuskers are getting set to start their 2021-22 campaign on Nov. 9 against Western Illinois.
