Nebraska LB calling it a career after sustaining spinal injury earlier this season

Ahead of this Saturday’s game at Rutgers, Nebraska is losing Collin Miller. The linebacker announced he will not be playing football anymore, making him the second Nebraska senior this week to close out his collegiate career before the end of the season.
Miller, a solid linebacker, was a team captain for the Cornhuskers this season. Nebraska is 2-5 this season. He said health reasons played into his decision to retire, likely stemming from a spinal injury earlier this season. He suffered the spinal concussion in late November in a game against Illinois.

A two-year starter at Nebraska, Miller had a season-high 10 tackles earlier this season in a home win over Penn State. He has 27 tackles including two tackles for a loss as well as two quarterback hits this season.
On Monday, Nebraska starting left tackle Brenden Jaimes announced that he is opting out of the rest of the season and will focus on his preparation for the NFL Draft.
It is a big blow for the program. Jaimes has been a starter along the offensive line for Nebraska since 2017. The situation is obviously very different then that with Miller.
Nebraska has lost three of their last four games, including a 27-17 loss to Minnesota on Saturday.
