There’s a strong belief that Nebraska will be a top 25 team by the end of the 2019 season as the program enters Year 2 under Scott Frost. A combination of returning and incoming talent is the reason behind all the hype.
Oh, and the Huskers have a pretty favorable schedule coming up, as well.
Recently, 247Sports ranked the teams with the most favorable schedules for the 2019 season. Nebraska came in at No. 8 on that list and was the only B1G team mentioned. It’s hard to argue against it.
Nebraska will have three games against preseason top 25 teams and has a relatively light non-conference slate. The Huskers have home games against South Alabama and Northern Illinois, as well as a road trip to Colorado.
The Huskers got a favorable draw in B1G crossover games, too. Though they’ll host Ohio State, Nebraska also drew Indiana and Maryland out of the East, two teams regularly in the bottom of the standings.
Along with the Buckeyes, the most challenging matchups for the Huskers come against Iowa, Wisconsin, Northwestern and Minnesota. Sure, those games are going to be tough, but it’s nothing insurmountable.
There are plenty of positives working in Nebraska’s favor for the 2019 season. The schedule just happens to be one of them.
