Nebraska has some serious traction under Matt Rhule heading into the 2024 season. Now, the Huskers are looking to add to another strong start on the recruiting trail across the summer.

The latest addition for Nebraska comes via an elite Texas prospect, defensive lineman Malcolm Simpson. A 4-star recruit, Simpson chose the Huskers over other high offers that include Baylor, Texas A&M and Kansas.

Simpson is listed at 6-foot-3 and 255 pounds out of Hitchcock High School in Texas. He’s rated as a 4-star recruit and the 34th DL prospect in the country per the 247 Sports Composite. Simpson is also the No. 47 player out of Texas for the 2025 recruiting class.

Impact for Nebraska

Adding Simpson gives Nebraska a trio of 4-star commitments in the 2025 recruiting class and 11 hard commitments overall. That recruiting class by the Huskers is currently ranked 32nd nationally per the 247 Sports Team Composite.

One recruiting class removed from landing 5-star QB Dylan Raiola, the Huskers continue to trend in the right direction under Rhule. Nebraska has added a commitment from 4-star QB TJ Lateef out of California and 4-star RB Jamarion Parker out of Missouri.

We’ll see how the rest of the recruiting class shapes up throughout the summer and fall.
