Nebraska, Rutgers among teams that paid most for home losses this season

Losing on your home turf is never a good feeling. It’s even worse when you’re writing a big, fat check to your opponent for coming into your stadium and leaving with a victory.
Nebraska and Rutgers both experienced that feeling this season.
The Huskers and Scarlet Knights aren’t the only teams to lose on their home field this season, and their not the only programs that “paid” for a loss. But they were some of the most expensive losses in college football this year.
According to ESPN’s Darren Rovell, Rutgers paid Eastern Michigan $860,000 to make the trip to Piscataway. Nebraska paid Northern Illinois $820,000 to come Memorial Stadium. Both B1G teams suffered losses.

LSU paid Troy $985K
Syracuse paid MTSU $950K
Rutgers paid E. Michigan $860K

Only Syracuse and LSU have paid out more in home losses this season, with the Tigers taking the top spot after dropping Saturday’s game against Troy.
Losing is never fun for any program. But yeah, it stings just a little bit more when your opponent is leaving with some serious cash, too.
