Noa Pola-Gates, who played in 2 games last season and has appeared in 20 over a 4-year career at Nebraska, is headed for the transfer portal.

The news came from Mitch Sherman, who reported it and noted that it opens up room in the crowded defensive backfield as Pola-Gates battled injuries and is a graduate transfer. He largely played on special teams and made 4 tackles in his career.

Pola-Gates was regarded as one of the nation’s best safeties and top overall players in the 2019 recruiting class.

Pola-Gates starred for Williams Field High School in Gilbert, Arizona, where he was selected for the 2019 Army All-American Bowl and the Polynesian Bowl. Pola-Gates was a consensus 4-star recruit who was ranked as the No. 3 player in the state of Arizona by 247Sports and was regarded as the No. 11 safety in the country in his class.

Overall, Pola-Gates was ranked among the top 150 recruits in the nation by 247Sports,
