Nebraska started off the NCAA Softball Tournament with a win on Friday night over North Texas. The Huskers had a 3-0 shutout victory to grab the win.

Nebraska jumped out to an early lead thanks to a 2-run opening inning. Billie Andrews scored the first run on a throwing error from North Texas after Sydney grounded into a fielder’s choice.

Later in the inning, Mya Felder had an RBI after hitting in Cam Ybarra.

The Huskers were able to get some insurance in the 4th inning when Kaylin Kinney singled to left field, scoring Brooke Andrews. That gave Nebraska a 3-0 advantage by the end of the inning.

North Texas was held to just 3 hits in the game thanks to great pitching from Liv Ferrell and Courtney Wallace. Ferrell went 5.1 innings with 6 strikeouts, 2 walks and 2 hits.

Wallace stepped in to pitch the final 1.2, surrendering just 1 hit in the final 5 outs.

Nebraska will now play the winner of Oklahoma State and Fordham at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
