It took everything Nebraska had to escape Champaign with a victory. The Huskers overcame four turnovers and 11 penalties to improve to 3-1 on the season and start the B1G year with a 1-0 mark.
But a few days after the 42-38 win, Nebraska is still paying the price for the win.
Players met with the media on Monday to talk about Saturday’s win over Illinois and preview the upcoming matchup against Ohio State. It sounds like they were pretty sore from that 60-minute battle with the Illini.
Nebraska tight end Jack Stoll told Sam McKewon of the Omaha World-Herald that the Huskers only practiced with helmets on Monday to recover from the weekend. He called Illinois the most physical team it has played to this point in the season.
Nebraska practiced in just helmets today. TE Jack Stoll said Illinois was the most physical team Nebraska has faced this year.

That’s a big compliment for the Illini, which did deliver some big hits throughout the game.
Illinois surrendered 700 yards in the game and gave up 42 points, so it did have some serious issues defending the Huskers. But physicality, it sounds like, has not been an issue.
Nebraska will no prepare for Ohio State, which it will play on Saturday with College GameDay coming to town. The Huskers will need to be fresh and ready to go for that showdown with the Buckeyes.
