Nebraska volleyball: No. 2 Huskers fall to No. 9 Stanford in Lincoln

Nebraska volleyball suffered its first loss of the 2022 season on Tuesday evening in Lincoln. The No. 2 Huskers (7-1) fell to No. 9 Stanford (5-2), 3-1 in 4 sets.
Stanford took set 1 27-25. There were 5 ties and 1 lead change in the first set.
The Cardinal made it 2-0 in the match by taking set 2 25-22. There were 4 ties, but no lead changes in the second set.
John Cook’s team battled back by taking set 3 25-19. In that set, there were 8 ties and 1 lead change.
The decisive fourth set had the most drama. After 17 ties and 7 lead changes, Stanford took the set 27-25, closing on a 3-0 scoring run to clinch the match.
The Huskers will go on the road to face Kentucky on Sunday in Lexington. The match is set for 2 p.m. and will air on ESPN2.
Nebraska begins Big Ten play at home on Sept. 23, a Friday night match against Michigan State.
