The Cornhuskers football program might be mired in the mud looking for traction but their men’s basketball team took to the friendly skies today in the season opener against the McNeese State Cowboys. The game was played as part of the Golden Windows Classic being hosted in Lincoln.

Nebraska went the half-time locker room ahead of McNeese 50-28 while the Cornhuskers’ BTN account posted not one, not two, but three videos of monster slams from Husker athletes to help stake their team to the big lead.

Trey McGowans threw down the first dunk while teammate Teddy Allen elevated alongside to take a rim-height look at the throw down.

Shamiel Stevenson later stole the ball in the defensive half-court and went end to end for a slam of his own.

Later, McGowans connected with a bounce pass inside to Yvan Ouedraogo, who stuffed it home on the Cowboys.

Finally, McGowens stepped to the corner and waited for the kick out pass on the dribble drive. When it got there, he buried the corner three-ball and finished the half 10 points and two assists.

The second half of the game can be caught on the Big Ten Network.
