Nebraska receiver JD Spielman has played in just 15 games in his college career. But that’s all the sophomore has needed to reach a major milestone.

In Saturday’s game against Purdue, Spielman eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark in his career, needing just those 15 games to surpass the mark. He became the quickest receiver to reach that milestone in Nebraska history.

Spielman has played in all four games for the Huskers this season and leads the team with receptions (23) and touchdown catches (four). He ranks second in receiving yardage (252), behind only Stanley Morgan Jr. (269).

The sophomore was sensational against Purdue, catching 10 passes for 135 yards and two touchdowns.

Last season, Spielman appeared in 11 games as a freshman and was a key contributor. He had 55 catches for 830 yards and two touchdowns for the Huskers. His career-best performance came against Ohio State, racking up 200 yards and a touchdown on 11 receptions.

Spielman will attempt to build on his totals this weekend as Nebraska travels to Wisconsin.
